OPENING SOON! Estimated opening September 2019!

Our location

We are located at the beginning of the stunning Otago Peninsula (by the Vauxhall Yacht Club). There is onsite parking, and a recreational reserve on the south side of the yacht club which has public toilet facilities.  The recreational reserve provides a stunning backdrop to enjoy a coffee or bite to eat.

We also have a CBD bike hire location, just 2min walk from the Dunedin Railway Station:

Traffic Management & Control Ltd:  14 Harrow St  (green building)

How to get here

Where indicated, times are approximate from the Dunedin Railway Station in the CBD.

Drive: Just a 5 minute drive via Portsmouth Dr. Follow the blue Otago Peninsula signage located along Portsmouth Dr.

Cycle: We are located directly on the Otago Peninsula cycleway. Approximately 15 minutes cycling, along dedicated cycleways and shared cycleway/footpaths. We also have an E-Bike hire pick up point at 14 Harrow St, one block from the Railway Station.

Bus: Take the #18 City – Portobello bus. Catch the bus from Stop G at the Bus Hub, to the Portobello Rd – Glengyle St stop. We are approximately 400m further along the walkway.

Walk: For those more athletically inclined, enjoy a beautiful 50 minute walk along the Harbour Basin. The route is completely flat, no hills required. Take your photo with the locally renowned Harbour Mouth Molars sculpture along the way!

Cruise Ship Passengers: Cruise ship shuttle buses will transport passengers from Port Chalmers to The Octagon, which is just 3 blocks from our E-Bike CBD pick up location, and 2 blocks from the Bus Hub.

For the Community

We aim to provide as much benefit to the local community as we can. We have partnered with a number of local businesses in the development of this venture, and our suppliers are sourced locally whenever we can.

Our goal is for locals and visitors alike to have the opportunity to get out and enjoy what our beautiful city has to offer. We want to make the water and cycleways accessible for anyone, especially those that may not have the equipment at home to enjoy these sorts of activities, and hope our customers will enjoy themselves so much that they will be encouraged to join local clubs as well.

We also have special discounts just for Dunedin residents, to say thank you for the support we have received. Register (free) to receive your membership card and access to these offers.

The OHGC story so far

Otago Harbour Golf Challenge Ltd was founded by Dunedin local Peter Graham in 2018. We wanted to offer something different for local residents as well as visitors to the wonderful city of Dunedin.

The location was key for this venture, as it needed to be suitable for the retrieval of the golf balls from the Hole in 1 Challenge. Dunedin has also invested heavily in its cycle network recently, including the extension to the Peninsula cycleway currently under way, and we wanted to encourage locals to use these resources.

After 2 years of solid investigation and preparation for an extensive Resource Consent process with the Dunedin City Council and Otago Regional Council, we were granted consent. This was followed by an appeal, which was resolved after another long year with some minor changes to the way OHGC would operate, and the venture was given final approval by the Environment Court of New Zealand. Work is now well under way to open for the summer of 2019, three years after we first started the concept for our hub of activities.

A man’s dream and ideas can come true through the support of others. Thank you Dunedin. Welcome to Dunedin's Hole in 1 Challenge for your enjoyment.
